COPPELL — Lewisville entered this season knowing 2023 could be its year. It was coming off a run to the regional finals and returned a senior class that featured a number of top recruits like Oklahoma commit Jaydan Hardy at defensive back and Jackson State pledge Ethan Terrell at quarterback. Twenty-seven years since it last reached the state finals, if there was any time Lewisville could get back, it would be with the Class of 2024 — a class it had eyed since it was in middle school. A loss to Highland Park in non-district play in Week 2 was a small bump in the road but had no real effect on Lewisville's chance to win its second-straight district title and earn the top playoff spot coming out of District 6-6A.
