City officials from Coppell, Lancaster and Lewisville spoke out Monday in Austin against legislation that would change state law so sales tax paid for items bought online would go to destination cities instead of cities from which products originate or are shipped. The proposed change in the way cities receive local sales tax revenues from internet sales would batter their municipal budgets and be unfair to cities that built their budgets and business models based on the existing tax laws, officials from the three North Texas cities said in a hearing before the House Ways and Means Committee.
